Having trained, practiced and educated in fine art for many years, photography has always played a major part in the documentation of life and events around me. I have departed from my favoured genre of landscape and ventured into the realm of people in their places. Whenever I go anywhere, it’s the people in ‘their’ place that excites me – whether this is locally where I live in the West Midlands in Great Britain, or if it’s a remote village community in Borneo. The habits and actions of people in situ with their individualities and peculiarities are what interest me, and this theme cuts across all of my work. But I still have time to make some landscape photographs when the need arrives.
Some of the project albums here are personal while others are editorial or photojournalistic. Some of them are commissioned and some are private passions. Sometimes each of these raisons d’etre merge and it’s difficult to separate work from pleasure.
